There’s something about a sunny day in the Peak District that makes everything feel a little bit brighter, and when you add a group of colleagues walking for a good cause, it becomes an unforgettable adventure.
The Pollensa Insurance Team of eight led by the Managing Director Tom Florence gathered to walk 11 miles through the stunning Peak District. Wondering through fields, followed scenic walkways, climbed over stiles, and passed through farmyards, all while raising money for two incredible charities: Little Miracles and Football vs Cancer.
The walk was more than just a physical challenge—it was about coming together to make a difference. Little Miracles, a charity supporting children with disabilities and additional needs, was one of the causes we were walking for. The other, Football vs Cancer, raises awareness and funds for cancer research, using the universal love of football to bring people together for a common goal.
As we made our way through the hills and valleys, we chatted about life, laughed at the occasional misstep, and soaked in the beauty of the surroundings. The camaraderie was contagious, and every step felt that much more meaningful, knowing we were contributing to something greater than ourselves.
Around halfway through the walk, we reached the picturesque village of Hartington—a perfect spot for a refreshment break. Nestled in the heart of the Peak District, Hartington has that timeless village charm. We took a breather, enjoying a liquid lunch and some snacks while we swapped stories with the locals who were equally enjoying the sunny weather.
It was the ideal pause before we tackled the second half of the walk.
After our well-needed break, we hit the trail again, energised and ready to push on. The last stretch took us through more beautiful landscapes—fields, woods, and sweeping views that made the effort of walking those 11 miles feel worth it. We crossed fields with grazing sheep, waved at passing cyclists, and even had a few moments to just stop and take it all in.
By the time we reached our finish point, tired but happy, it was clear that we hadn’t just walked 11 miles. We’d made memories, strengthened friendships, and contributed to causes that truly matter. We finished off the walk with a lovely meal at The Royal Oak at Hurdlow.
While the miles may have seemed long at times, the impact of what we were doing was always front and centre. Whether it was supporting Little Miracles in their work with children or backing Football vs Cancer in the fight against cancer, every step brought us closer to helping these organisations do more for those in need.
It wasn’t just about the walk—it was about making a difference, together. Thank you to all those that have donated, but you would like to make a small donation please follow the link here.
Thank you.
